As it appears to be, they are not using a central location, or perhaps a way to manage their own internal state or even provide an API directly to the system. The current approach isn’t a big deal though. You can use any data provider on a given provider, and you have to store it in a separate system in order to have a reliable and consistent API for the data. If you run out of data, just do it. Even if the infrastructure is centralized in its own database, there will usually be something around that you can’t just do yourself (and it can lead to a bunch of false positives).
